To verify the authenticity of Ibirá Mineral Water in returnable bottles it is necessary to check the following criteria:

  • The seal must be intact, without any damage.
  • Verify the presence of the tax stamp.
  • The cap must have an integral ring-seal.
  • Confirm if the manufacture date and batch number are printed on the cap.
  • Ensure that the label contains the Ibirá Mineral Water brand information.

As for disposable bottles, it is essential that the cap and seal-ring are in perfect conditions and do not present any damage. Besides, the label must contain the Ibirá Mineral Water brand information.

Ibirá Mineral Water has a characteristic and specific flavor, different from other mineral waters on the market. This is due to the balanced combination of alkaline pH (above 10) with the rich composition of minerals present in the water. Therefore, an unaccustomed palate will notice this taste specificity.

The term“pH” is an abbreviation for “potential of hydrogen” and indicates the concentration of solubilized hydrogen (H +) ions. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14, 7 being considered neutral. Values below 7 indicate acidity, while values above 7 indicate alkalinity.

Ibirá Mineral Water has a pH around 10, therefore classified as alkaline mineral water.

The alkalinity of Ibirá Mineral Water is related to the presence of sodium bicarbonates and carbonates, which promote action to aid the digestive system by neutralizing stomach acidity, especially in cases of gastritis, and improves the kidney function performance.

Ibirá Mineral Water is naturally extracted from the aquifer, that is, in accordance with specific legislation, our filling process uses the most natural form, without any modification, addition or alteration of the water, regardless of the packaging for consumption.

Thus, sodium and all other minerals are naturally present in Ibirá Water.

It is not harmful. Sodium is an essential mineral for basic functions of the human body, such as acid-base balance, water balance in the body, muscle contraction, nerve impulses and heart rate.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is recommended to consume 2,000 mg of sodium per day for the proper functioning of the body. Ibirá Water has an average of 83.3 mg of sodium per liter. A person who consumes 2 liters of water per day will be ingesting 166.6 mg of sodium, equivalent to only 8.3% of the recommended total intake. Therefore, a completely safe amount for consumption.

Ibirá Mineral Water packaging, whether returnable or disposable, is Bisphenol A free. This chemical component is, sometimes, used in packaging and has potential harmful effects on the human endocrine system through its migration from the product. It is guaranteed that the packaging filled by Ibirá Mineral Water does not contain this component

We explain that some factors may interfere with the consumer's taste when consuming the water, as an example:

  • Algae proliferation: Single-celled algae, naturally present in the mineral water microbiota, can quickly multiply under conditions of greater clarity and temperature variations, resulting in changes in taste, smell and color. It is important to note that the ingestion of these algae does not pose health risks.
  • Irritated Gustatory Papillae:There are several causes that may indicate a case of taste bud irritation and can hinder the full appreciation during water consumption, such as: hot, acidic, spicy foods, use of different medications, among others.
  • Water Consumption Temperature: The temperature of the mineral water plays a crucial role in the perceived taste. When consumed hot, the water can have a more distinctive and specific flavor. On the other hand, when it is cold, the low temperature can anesthetize the taste buds, making it difficult to perceive the characteristic flavor of the water being ingested.
  • Absorption of Flavors and Odors: Mineral water can easily absorb odors and flavors from the substances with which it comes into contact, either directly or indirectly. It can significantly influence the taste when the water is consumed. Therefore, it is crucial to store and consume water away from chemical products and other substances with intense odors.
  • Characteristic Coconut Water Taste: We emphasize that, according to the tests conducted in our laboratory, it was observed that when cleaning the bottle with alcohol and consuming the water before the alcohol has completely evaporated, the formation of a by-product may occur.& This by-product is not harmful to health but may cause a change in the taste and/or odor of the water, resembling coconut water.
  • Characteristic Taste of Plastic:Submitting mineral water to abrupt temperature changes can result in the packaging heating, leading to the migration of its taste to the water consumed. It is important to note that this change in taste does not pose health risks, since all Ibirá Mineral Water packages have a migration report, demonstrating compliance with safety standards.

It is very important to perform regular and proper sanitation of the equipment, including internal and external cleaning with neutral detergent, followed by rinsing the hoses/taps with boiling water. Additional monthly cleaning with a sodium bicarbonate solution (1 scoop per liter of water) is recommended, followed by rinsing with clean water or mineral water. Frequent cleaning eliminates over time accumulated dirt, including the single-celled algae that grows naturally in the hoses of drinking fountains and suction pumps.
